Phillies Share Wild Card Lead!

I am STILL waiting to hear back from a bid at work that would pull me out of a financial funk (thanks to all who have asked, you'll know when I do), but the axiety of the Phillies tease with post-season play is killing me almost as much. I have been glued to my little clock radio (we don't have a tv) every night and have accomplished very little after 7:05pm for the last month.

They have shuffled their starting lineup around to maximize the matchups in the remaining ten games. This could go down to the wire and it's killing me. If we play a one-game tiebreaker with L.A. or San Diego, Cole Hamels will take the mound. I love it. I thought he might be NL rookie of the year. Doubtful, but we'll see.

If you're not a baseball fan, imagine your favorite tv show having 162 episodes in a season and the week before the big season finale they pull a cliffhanger where you're not sure if the main character will live or die. It's kind of like that, but with beer bellies, tobacco, and a healthy lack of romantic subplots.

By the way, I won that clock radio in a raffle in 1989 and it has served me well for all these years. The volume nob is jittery now and sometimes when it is supposed to wake me up, the nob slips to a quiet setting and I sleep through it. Gotta go buy a new one before I miss something important. I want to get one of those old-school analog clocks where the numbers flip over like an odometer. Those are cool, but the main objective is to consistently wake my stubborn ass up. I was using my phone as an alarm, but the ringer on that is also broken and I'm waiting until October when my contract runs out and I get the full $150 credit towards a new phone. Times are hard.

p.s. - as I write this, some guy just pulled up in front of my house. I'm working from home with the windows up. I can hear that he's listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio. Not a common occurence here in Hunting Park.
