Super-Size This

Part of the former Budd site, which has been the target of Donald Trump's proposed Casino plans, was bought today by the Salvation Army which plans to build a church and community center in honor of Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald's. The article doesn't mention the casino. Maybe this development will help push the casino out. If not, at least now there will be something good to combat the bad.

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Sep. 20, 2006 (Business Wire) -- Preferred Real Estate and The Salvation Army have closed the deal on the 12.43 acres of land at the former site of Budd Co. on Hunting Park Ave. in North Philadelphia. Preferred donated the majority of the 12-plus acres of the 83-acre Budd site that it bought in 2004. The Salvation Army will build a $40 million Kroc Community Center on the property.
So put your pesky environmental, human rights, economic, and health concerns aside and celebrate with a tasty Big Mac today.
