Murder Was the Case

Just doing some cheery, late-night research on neighborhood crime inspired by a recent local headline. Here is the rundown:

Murder Map

Murders in Hunting Park area from Jan 1 to Nov 30, 2006. Ridiculous. The map itself is actually interactive and you can scroll over each dot to get detailed information about the situation. The ones by us are mostly men under 30 killed by a firearm. So help me if a dot shows up in that park soon. I don't want to have to tell the cops "I told you so," but it seems to be getting worse and all they can say is that it's a busy district. I am simply annoyed because if they would enforce the existing laws, then the conditions for crime would decrease significantly in the park. As it stands, you've got crackheads, dealers, pimps, and prostitutes running around in the park. Eventually, that scenario will place a dot on the map within the park unless something is done to change the environment there. Trouble is allowed free reign in the park and that will eventually result in tragedy.
