"Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive." - Titus 2:9&10

This probably wasn't on the reading list for any MLK day celebrations. This passage confuses me.

I don't think Paul is condoning slavery... if that's where your confusion lies.

Rather I think Paul is giving the perameters for how we are to behave in whatever circimstances we find ourselves... working unto God and all that. Whether we have no control over our circumstances (ie. slavery), little control (ie. a crap job we can't afford to quit), or lots of control (ie. being self-employed)... we are still ultimately responsible to God for how we conduct ourselves.

Or are you thinking about something else??
