Great Weekend
Friday night had dinner at Val and Owen's place. Val used to live down the block from me and we did a lot of growing up together. They have a beautiful place, a beautiful little boy, and some great neighbors.
Saturday and Sunday I spent a lot of time working (and/or watching others work) on the Hunting Park Community Garden mosaic (photos later). We had dinner together, discussed immigration, and all the other usual fun stuff.
Sunday I discovered a new neighborhood church (pastored by my old boss' brother) called Chosen Generation. They renovated an old industrial building into a sanctuary/cafe. Very chic and fun. A young church, mostly african-american, very energetic and eager to get to know the neighborhood. Going to a Bible study at their place on Wednesday.
Sunday night house prayer time was great. We had a difficult week with some rather brutal arguments but everyone who was in town came to the table. The night ended in hugs and tears. People I never thought would get along were chatting and joking the day after.
Today me and Michael did a ton of garden work. Pretty much from about 10am to about 8pm. Got a ton of stuff done. Garden looks great. Several friends came over around 7pm for a cookout. Good food. Many beers. Excellent end to a full and wonderful weekend.
