If anyone is keeping score

Our State Rep., Tony Payton Jr. helped settle the SEPTA strike. The next morning he stopped by Ayuda's Family Day block party, spent a lot of time playing basketball with kids, and also mentioned to me that he had lent a hand to bringing the two sides together. My gut reaction was that politicians claim credit for everything. But lo and behold:

"Both SEPTA and the transit police union praised the help of the mayor, U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, D-Pa., City Councilman Curtis Jones Jr. and state Rep. Tony Payton Jr., D-Philadelphia, in settling the strike."
Good job. When Guy Lewis was challenging Payton for the State Rep. seat earlier this year, one of his talking points was that Payton is not visible in the district. All I'm saying is that, after a long evening of union negotiations, the Representative played about 5 games of basketball and was dripping with sweat on Saturday morning. That's pretty visible if you ask me.
