Quinones-Sanchez taking on big business
Today she introduced a bill to City Council that would make business tax information public. From Philly.com:
Sanchez says 872 businesses reported annual receipts over $10 million, and 299 paid an average annual tax bill of more than $470,000. But the other 573 businesses paid an average tax bill of only $9,020, she said.Next she'll be working on a bill to levy a tax on windfall profits from Tastykake, Geno's, and Pat's to offset the rising costs of insulin.
"Why is a business that earns more than $10 million in revenue paying less in taxes than the average citizen?" Sanchez asked. "How can we have an informed debate on business taxes, tax credits, and Keystone Opportunity Zones, without this information?"
